Denmark attractions

Denmark’s attractions are surprisingly varied for a country that is relatively small in surface area and a total population of around 5 million. The landscapes are often pleasant, with rolling fields, woodland and lakes, together with long, sandy beaches along much of the country’s coastline. Danes are very ecologically aware and strive to maintain the quality and the integrity of their environment.

Work and play are both considered to be important, and Denmark has many facilities for entertainment, whether for adults or for children. From the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen to Legoland in Jutland, playing and having fun are both central to the Danish way of life. At the same time, Denmark as the world’s oldest monarchy has proud traditions and the impressive national monuments to go with them. Castles and medieval, half-timbered buildings abound, as well as open air and working museums that keep traditional skills and knowledge alive.

Denmark is also in general a safe country, both naturally and in terms of the attitude and behavior of Danish citizens. Being organized and maintaining things in working order are not so much a conscious effort as a way of life. On the other hand, Danes are typically free-thinking and tolerant of differences of opinion. They are famous and justifiably so for their innovative and vibrant ideas for design, art and architecture. The overall standard of living is high and so is the quality of shopping, restaurants, entertainment and nightlife.
