Vejle

Vejle – for a moment of peace and tranquility

Vejle is a compromise between a town that has a more discreet approach to tourism, and one that still offers things to see and do. You’ll know where you are in Vejle, thanks to the large white windmill on a hill to the south of the town that can be seen from almost anywhere. The quaint charm continues with the large cobblestone pedestrian shopping street, the old Town Hall and the St. Nicolai church. The church also houses a well-conserved Iron Age mummy. In addition, Vejle has an art museum, together with street art that includes sculptures in the form of benches that you can sit on.

Outside the town, the countryside is gently hilly with forests with a fjord close by. In tune with these natural formations, architects have created a series of modern apartment blocks in the shape of rolling waves. Vejle is also has good railway connections, which facilitates travel to and from the town. This is of particular interest when the nearby motorway traffic jams occur (one of the few places in Denmark where this happens).
