Horsens

Horsens – fun and festivals

Horsens puts fun to the forefront of its activities, with a range of different events and cultural experiences. Examples are the Horsens Children’s Theater Festival, the Crime Festival at the old Horsens prison and attended by many well known crime writers, and the European Medieval Festival. For this last event towards the end of August each year, families and children can enjoy the entertainment of a town center that changes into the biggest medieval market town in Northern Europe. Horsens also attracts musicians and groups of international renown such as Elton John, Paul McCartney and Madonna.

For those who prefer a calmer environment, there is the Horsens Industrimuseum with displays on how technology and living conditions for workers have developed over time. And close by to the town, you can set out on cycle rides in pleasant scenery away from cars, or visit the small islands in the Horsens fjord. The island of Alrø can be reached by bike and you may see seals sunning themselves. Endelave and Hjarnø area short ferry ride away. Vorsø, only open to the public for a few days a year, is home to Denmark’s biggest colony of cormorants.
